Today, UK Government has released a draft version of the Border Target Operating Model which it proposes to introduce from the end of October 2023.
The Model includes information and timelines on implementing a new approach to security controls (which will affect all imports) and sanitary and phytosanitary controls (which will apply to imports of live animals, animal products, plants and plant products). Overall, it sets out how controls will be simplified, digitalised and, over time, delivered through the UK's new Single Trade Window.
As this is a draft version of the Model, the UK Government have introduced a 6-week period, starting today, for businesses to engage with Government and have their say. To find the Border Target Operating Model, and to find out how you can join in with the engagement events, click on the link here.
